hello again the blog has been put down to me again with Johns help of course, I left you all with our prospect of a large big night out in Wellington. This turned out quite true and we were up till all hours and it was a good one apart from the fact that no one seemed older than 18! Just like warrington then.
The day after we caught the ferry to picton, the crossing was beautifull; stunning views of the islands and houses on them, nice weather and the premiership on the tv bonus. Bodashous!!! The banter Continued...
We arrived in the south island, picked up our station wagon and headed towards a shop selling roof racks and tea towels to make a very impressive self made surf rack using our boy hood scout skills. We headed on to Kaikura to check out swimming with seals, however on the way we got involved in a winnery. Johnny was in his element! When we got to Kaikura it turned out that the swell was just too big and we just had to surf... what a shame... we found a right hander point break which was head high and pumping.
Our accomadation during this period was called the dusky lodge, recommended by the previous YHA and was emmence... we suddenly turned into posh packers as it had a pool, sauna and a hot tub. We got a great rate and had onsuite room situation with complimentary tea and towels.
After a morning surf (John's beasty session) we headed on to Franz Josef via Greymouth (Dump and very grey) it was a long drive, however made easy due to the many little helpers / elves... Which brings us to where we are now on the eve of climbing the Franz Josef glacier tommorrow. This is at a very early time of 9.15am on a guided tour. Cool!
